About the Event

“Creating an Inclusive Workplace”

LGBTQIA+ Training co-hosted by the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance, and Adirondack Diversity Initiative

An educational training for anyone wanting to increase their knowledge and confidence of LGBTQIA+ inclusion at work and in the community.

Thursday November 9th, 2:00-4:30pm, 4:30-5:30pm social hour.

Location: The Carry Co-Working Space, 75 Main St, Upstairs; virtual option also available.

Who: Open to anyone including business leaders, managers, organization leaders, community members

Training to include:

  • Understanding LGBTQIA+ 
  • Employment Laws relevant to LGBTQIA - including GENDA Act, SONDA Act
  • Human Resources best practices
  • Transitioning in the workplace - things the employer needs to know
  • Insurance coverage and benefit packages that are inclusive

Post training social hour offers space for people to ask questions in an informal setting and share experiences.

Training is facilitated by Kelly Metzgar, Executive Director of the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance, and Melaine Sleime, Chief Human Resource Officer at Adirondack Health.
